Today a recipe everybody has at least heard of, Irish coffee. It is said it was invented by Joe Sheridan on a cold winter evening in the 1940s. A group of American passengers disembarked from a flying boat at Foynes port and to warm them, Sheridan added whiskey to the coffee. After being asked what they were being served, he told them it was Irish coffee and a world-famous classic was born.
